WhatsApp, introduced its screen-sharing feature in 2023, empowering users to share their screens during video calls. Similar to features on platforms like Google Meet and Zoom, this functionality is available on WhatsApp’s Android app, as well as the iPhone and Windows desktop apps.

Step-by-Step Guide for Mobile Devices

To share your screen on WhatsApp’s mobile apps, follow these steps:

  1. Open WhatsApp.
  2. Start a video call.
  3. Tap the screen-sharing icon (a phone with an arrow on Android, or a screen with a figure on iOS).
  4. Confirm to share your screen.
  5. Your screen becomes visible to others on the call.
  6. Return to WhatsApp and click “Stop Sharing” to end the screen-sharing session.

While the steps are similar for both Android and iOS, users on mobile devices share their entire screens. It’s crucial to note that during screen sharing, everything on your phone screen is visible to other participants.

Desktop Screen-Sharing Option

For the WhatsApp desktop app, the feature provides the option to share either the entire computer screen or a specific app. Here’s how to use it:

  1. Open the WhatsApp desktop app.
  2. Start a video call.
  3. Click the Share icon in the call window.
  4. Choose to share the entire screen or a specific app.
  5. To stop sharing, return to the WhatsApp app and tap the “Stop Screen Sharing” icon.
