Huawei Middle East and Central Asia participated in a high-level media roundtable during the GSMA M360 EURASIA 2023 conference in Baku, Azerbaijan. The role of regulators in promoting local telecom industry cybersecurity development and the significance of cybersecurity in safeguarding critical information infrastructure and the digital economy also explored.
The panel consisted of esteemed professionals, including Dr. Tural Mammadov, Director of the Azerbaijan Computer Emergency Response Center (CERT); Dr. Mohammad Khaled, Director of Business Development and Strategic Projects at e&enterprise; Dr. Haitham Hilal Al Hajri, Sr. Executive of Cyber Security Projects at Oman National CERT; Dr. Elvin Balajanov, Chairman of the Board at Azerbaijan Cybersecurity Organization Association; and Dr. Aloysius Cheang, Chief Security Officer at Huawei Middle East & Central Asia.

He highlighted the need for telecommunications providers to implement appropriate safeguards, protocols, and technologies to mitigate risks and protect the country’s interests.
Dr. Aloysius Cheang discussed the challenge of meeting strict compliance requirements while providing secure and trustworthy products and services. He advocated for a defense-in-depth approach to enhance security, business continuity, efficiency, customer experience, and user privacy.
