During a review meeting on petroleum relief package for low-income petroleum consumers held in Lahore, Prime Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif directed that all low-income consumers using small vehicles up to 800cc, except motorcycles and rickshaws, should be included in petroleum subsidy for poor people with low income. He emphasized the need for a comprehensive strategy with mutual cooperation from all relevant institutions to ensure effective implementation of the subsidy program and urged for its completion as soon as possible.

The Prime Minister highlighted that motorcycles, rickshaws and small vehicles are primarily used by low-income people, and the subsidy program will directly lead to the relief of the poor. Minister of State for Petroleum Mossadegh Malik briefed the meeting on the strategy of providing petroleum subsidy to the low-income people.
The government is making efforts to assist the poor people despite severe economic difficulties. As per the statement released by the media wing of the Prime Minister’s Office, a petroleum relief package of up to 50 rupees per liter will be given to the poor people.
