ISLAMABAD – 17th January 2023: Jazz, a digital operator in Pakistan and part of the VEON Group, is expanding its Digital Pakistan Fellowship Program to students at Fatima Jinnah Women University (FJWU), the country’s first public women’s university. The fellowship aims to engage young people in discussions around tech-based innovation and equip participants with the necessary skills to play a role in building the creative economy in Pakistan. Jazz previously launched this program at the National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST) with the same goal. A ceremony was held at FJWU to mark the partnership and a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between Jazz and FJWU. This partnership is a reflection of Jazz’s commitment to fostering sustainable growth in Pakistan through innovation. The program will also provide students with exposure to tech journalism. Jazz CEO, Aamir Ibrahim, stated that positively impacting the lives and livelihoods of women is at the core of Jazz’s mission and this partnership aims to encourage more women to participate in tech-based discussions in the country. Jazz’s partnership with FJWU demonstrates their dedication to national development and digital inclusivity, and aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals 5, 9, and 10.
