IT Minister Unveils Pakistan’s First E-Rozgar Center

Caretaker Federal Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunications, Dr. Umar Saif, marked a significant milestone on Tuesday as he inaugurated the country’s inaugural e-Rozgar Centre. This initiative was established through a collaboration with Excel Consulting Services.

State-of-the-Art Facilities for Freelancers

The newly inaugurated e-Rozgar Centre is equipped with approximately 100 workstations, featuring cutting-edge facilities tailored to cater to the needs of freelancers. Plans are already underway to expand the center to accommodate up to 300 workstations in the future.

Official Launch of the 10,000 e-Rozgar Centers Project

During the inauguration, Minister Dr. Umar Saif announced that the center’s establishment signifies the official commencement of the project to set up 10,000 e-Rozgar Centers across the country. This initiative aims to provide a platform for both existing and upcoming freelancers, allowing them to work independently at affordable rates.

Top-notch Facilities Provided

Dr. Umar Saif highlighted the excellent opportunities available for freelancers, including high-speed internet, UPS, training centers, individual cabins, meeting rooms, and separate office rooms for start-ups. Designers have crafted these amenities to foster a conducive environment for freelancers to thrive actively.

Boosting IT Exports and Empowering Freelancers

Dr. Saif expressed optimism about the potential impact of this initiative, anticipating an annual increase of $10 billion in IT exports. He emphasized that these centers, operating under a public-private partnership, would significantly enhance the capacity and income of freelancers.

Role of Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB)

Responsibility for providing freelancers with necessary technical support at these centers falls under the Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB) purview. This strategic collaboration aims to ensure the success and sustainability of the e-Rozgar Centers.

Decisive Measures in the Caretaker Tenure

During the caretaker tenure, Dr. Saif actively recognized taking crucial decisions about the IT and Telecom sector. He credited the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) as the essential forum facilitating these decisions.

Roadmap for Digital Pakistan

The caretaker government has laid out a comprehensive roadmap for Digital Pakistan, providing a conducive environment for the upcoming government to continue fostering the growth of the country’s digital economy.

Prominent Figures Present at the Inauguration

Additional Secretary MoITT Ayesha Moriani attended. Member IT Syed Junaid Imam was there. Project Director Amir Ahmed joined. Chairman EC Services, Nazir Qureshi, participated. Officials from MoITT, NTS, and PSEB also attended. A large number of freelancers were present too.
