Government Announces 2 Holidays for Eid-ul-Azha, But No Holiday on Hajj Day


The federal government has officially announced holidays for Eid ul Azha. As per the official notification, individuals who work 5 days a week will enjoy a 2-day break on June 29th and 30th (Thursday and Friday) in observance of the Eid holidays. For those who work 6 days a week, there will be a 3-day holiday from June 29th to July 1st (Thursday, Friday, and Saturday).

On Monday, the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, under the leadership of Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad, gathered in Karachi to spot the sighting of the moon for the Islamic month of Zil Hajj after sunset. The committee confirmed the sighting, signaling the beginning of the Eid-ul-Azha festivities in Pakistan on Thursday, June 29th. Eid-ul-Azha, also known as the Festival of Sacrifice, holds great significance for Muslims around the world.
