Pakistan’s leading digital payments platform, easypaisa, marked International Women’s Day by renewing its pledge to empower women financially. Being a trailblazer in digital payments in the country, easypaisa has been at the forefront of promoting financial literacy and inclusion among women, enabling them to have greater control over their finances and achieve economic independence.
In honor of the occasion, special events were held in easypaisa’s offices in Karachi, Lahore, and Islamabad, celebrating the strength and resilience of women in the organization. A panel discussion was also organized on the topic of advancing financial empowerment for women in Pakistan. The panel comprised of women leaders from different industries, including fintech, HR, advocacy, and entertainment, who shared their personal journeys towards attaining financial empowerment and reaching new heights in their careers.
Speaking on the occasion, the CEO of easypaisa and Telenor Microfinance Bank, M. Mudassar Aqil, emphasized the organization’s commitment to promoting women’s leadership roles and creating a more inclusive Pakistan. He acknowledged that financial inclusion and women empowerment are moral imperatives, and it’s their utmost responsibility to equip women with the necessary tools, resources, and support to take control of their destinies and realize their ambitions.
Similarly, Pouruchisty Sidhwa, the CHRO of easypaisa and Telenor Microfinance Bank, highlighted the need to open new opportunities for women to break the glass ceiling and make a mark in Pakistan, where less than 12% of women are in leadership positions, one of the lowest in the region. She reiterated easypaisa’s commitment to championing this cause and ensuring equity for women at all levels.
easypaisa’s dedication to empowering women is reflected in its efforts to improve financial inclusion ratios, leveraging technology and collaborations to make it easier for women to access financial services tailored to their specific needs. As a business, easypaisa pledges to continue playing its role in advancing financial empowerment for women and working towards a financially inclusive Pakistan, where everyone has equal opportunities to thrive.
