Jazz concludes month-long celebration of women with ‘Power to be You’


Jazz concluded its month-long celebration of women with a ‘Power to be You’ event held at Jazz digital headquarters, Islamabad.

Jazz announced key initiatives to be undertaken that aim at empowering women in the workplace and the greater community. These include enhanced maternity and paternity leaves, hybrid schedules, and counseling support for new parents. Apart from announcing dedicated offsite learning retreats for women, an MoU was signed with Chughtai Labs for the provision of the Pink Card which offers Jazz employees and their families a 50% discount on women-related medical tests.

Through various initiatives, Jazz is assisting with the safe transition of women to the digital world, and as part of the GSMA’s Connected Women Commitment Initiative, Jazz has committed to increasing the proportion of women in its mobile internet customer base by 8 percent by 2023 with a dedicated focus on female smartphone ownership. The company also has programs in place to enhance digital literacy among girls; recently Jazz collaborated with Meta to launch an online safety booklet for Pakistani users, especially women, to help them understand the dynamics of digital space better and develop responsible online behavior to cope with the modern-day challenges of the digital world, voicing their thoughts while ensuring safety.

The event featured multiple activities, interviews, idea sharing and panel discussions from industry experts and the Jazz family alike. Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Poverty Alleviation and Social Protection, Dr. Sania Nishtar, guests from Pakistan Telecommunications Authority (PTA), Director Operations at Chughtai Lab, Dr. Omar Chugtai, Co-Founder Abey Khao, Ayesha Raza, Professor and Director Management Advancement Research Centre (MARC) at FAST School of Management, Dr. Sadia Nadeem, and social entrepreneur, activist, and former TV anchor & producer, Dr. Rakshinda Perveen were among those in attendance.
